Big truck coming on Monday July 14th
CJ is receiving a tractor trailer load of brand new merchandise this coming Monday July 14th. Half of the truck load, approximately 11 pallets worth, will be brand new (still in box but discontinued) light fixtures. The other half of the truck will be miscellaneous industrial supply products. We really won't know what this will include exactly until we unload the truck which will take us at least a few days. We expect to begin putting these items out on the sales floor by Wedenesday, July 16th.
Receipt of this new inventory is possible through a new and developing relationship with a national nonprofit Waste to Charity. Waste to Charity has been accepting donations and providing quality products to those in need around the world for the past five years. The organization dedicates their time, energy and resources to helping the under served population by soliciting donations from both corporate America and individuals and redistributing them to those in need. Waste to Charity's goal is to make a difference in the world by partnering with both business and individual members.
Acceptable inventory donations for Waste to Charity include excess, obsolete and end-of-the-season merchandise such as clothing, cars, computers, product overruns and foods nearing expiration dates. For decades, corporate America has been an advocate of philanthropy, and Waste to Charity makes it easier for managers, CFO's and CEO's to make a difference in the world by simply donating their surplus of stock.
CJ is very excited about this delivery and we look forward to developing a long standing relationship with Waste to Charity.
The CJ Buzz
Have you ever noticed that we have a picture of Marilyn Monroe hanging at CJ? She has a great message... "Relax. Donate." We couldn't agree more. There are several ways to donate to CJ:
- Bring items to our store during our regular business hours which are listed below.
- Contact Bonnie, our donation coordinator, at bonnie@constructionjunction.org to schedule a large donation pick up or get more information about donating to CJ.
- Contact Brian, our deconstruction manager, at bswearingen@constructionjunction.org if you have a property from which Brian's crew can salvage building materials.

CJ Q&A
Just wanted to clarify some items for the recycling drop off. What kinds of plastic can be dropped off for recycling? Can the paper/cardboard egg cartons be recycled with cardboard? Can various papers like wrapping paper which sometimes has a waxy/glossy finish be recycled with the junk mail? Thanks so much for your time - just trying to recycle as much as I can but without dropping off other items that will just get in the way. Thanks for all your great work! -- Kristen S.
Hi Kristen -- The city of Pittsburgh has a really great recycling page (http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/pw/html/recycling.html) on its website. Click the link for Drop-off Recycling to learn more about what is and isn't accepted at the city recycling drop-off center in our parking lot. Everything you mentioned is accepted.
That's Buster the Recycling Racoon to the right. He salutes you for joining the recycling revolution! -- Cozmo
