Big Pour SOLD OUT, CJ closed 9/13/08

The sold out Steel City Big Pour happens this Saturday, September 13th, 2008

  • Session one runs from noon to 3pm
  • Session two runs from 5pm to 8pm
  • Arrive early... gates will open 30 minutes prior for ticket processing and ID checks.
  • Everyone including designated drivers must be 21 or over.  Bring your ID.
  • Free parking is available in the Meade Street lot adjacent to CJ.  We encourage you to use this lot or park on the street as CJ's parking lot will not be available for parking.
  • Bring CA$H... we'll be raffling off some great items, including a kegerator at each Session, golf outings, shopping sprees and gift certificates, a mini DVD player, a signed Burton Morris poster,  plus more, more, more.  Big Pour related merchandise will also be for sale including posters, 2008 t-shirts and a limited number of 2007 t-shirts.  And of course, brewers will be selling their wares.
  • No tickets will be available at the door... this event is sold out!
-- Leave your car at home! --

1) Ride your bicycle - This year the Steel City Big Pour will feature a FREE bike valet service.  Enjoy the event knowing your ride is in safe hands!

2) Take Public Transportation - Port Authority operates several bus lines from many parts of town right to CJ.   Click here for bus times from different parts of town and a map to CJ.

3) If you do either, we'll give you one free raffle ticket - We'll hand you a raffle ticket at the bike valet.  Or if you take the bus, show us your transfer at the will call table to claim your raffle ticket.  Be sure to ask for a transfer on the bus (they cost an extra .50¢ but you can use it to get home).

We want you to enjoy the Big Pour safely and responsibly, so please don't drink and drive.

-- If you must drive... please note --

PennDOT has issued a Travel Advisory (click on the last "Allegheny" under 376) that portions of the inbound parkway east (I-376) will be completely closed the day of the Big Pour.  Don’t panic... there is an excellent alternative route that will work well for people coming from the North and the East.

  • Take the PA turnpike to exit 48 - Allegheny Valley. That is one exit west of the Pittsburgh\Monroeville exit and two exits east of the Cranberry exit where the turnpike connects with Interstate 79.
  • After the toll booth, follow signs for Route 28.  Travel 8/10ths of a mile and turn right onto Werner Camp Road, again following signs for Route 28.  After 4/10ths of a mile, bear right onto 28 South towards Pittsburgh.
  • Travel 28 South for about 5.5 miles to the Highland Park Bridge.  Stay in the left lane and take the Highland Park Bridge - Exit 6, Route 8 South.
  • Stay in the left lane on the bridge and follow signs for Washington Blvd/South 8.
  • After bridge exit ramp, stay in right lane and travel 4/10ths of a mile to the first traffic light and turn right, staying on Washington Blvd/South 8.
  • Travel about 2 miles on Washington Blvd.  Turn left onto Thomas Blvd.  Travel about six (6) city blocks and you will run into the CJ building at Lexington Ave.
  • Turn right onto Lexington Ave and then a quick left onto Meade Street for access to a large parking lot which will be on the left after you turn onto Meade St.

CJ Q&A

Last week, Molly asked us if we knew of a green dry cleaner in Pittsburgh and we put that question out to the CJ community at large.  Here is what we learned:

  • Martinizing Dry Cleaning in Wexford offers the new GreenEarth cleaning system.  Located at 12023 Perry Highway in the Pinetree Shoppes - 724-940-2494.  Thanks Cozmo!
  • Dry Cleaning Station in McMurray and Greensburg also uses the GreenEarth cleaning system.  Check out their website (http://www.drycleaningstation.com/) for more information.  Thanks Katie!
